현대를사는 도시 주거인들, 그들은 살던 곳을 떠나, 다른 이들의 정착지였던곳에 다시 새로운 삶의 터를 잡고, 그 터에 “희망의 천막”을 친다.
남편은항공 사업가이며, 부인은 져널리스트인 이 아파트의 새주인 가족들은이곳에서 그들이 계획하고 있는 일정기간을 살것이라고 했다.
그들은 “도시의 유목민”인 것이다.
아파트의 평면은 너무 오랜동안 “기능”이라는 이름의 무미한 편리함과 상업성을 이유로 “진화”되지않았으며, 그로인해 인간적 삶의 다양한 재미를 상실해왔다.
변경전의기존 아파트는 거실과 식당이 크게 한 공간으로서, 그 무지한 “면적”만을과시하고 있었으며, 그곳에서는 “공간적 존재”란 전혀 느낄 수 없었다.
이들의경계에는 “‘뚫린벽”을 쌓고, 그 벽선상에는 홈바의 기능을 위치하게했다.
반면, 식당과 주방은 벽으로 분리되어 있었으나, 오히려 상호기능적 교류를 위해, 그 벽은 뚫었다.
이로서, 거실, 식당, 주방의공적 공간은 뚫린벽을 사이에 두고, 각 기능에 부합하는 공간적 분위기로구획되며, “벽의 뚫림”을 통해 상호 시각적으로 교류, 연계하면서, 공간적, 회화적인 다양한 이야기가 생성 되기를 바라는 것이다.
“덜편함”은삶에 “다양성과 변화”를 가져다 주는 것인지 모른다.
아파트의구조는 땅과 하늘에 접하지 못하는 본능적 열등감을 품고 있다.
식당옆 기존 베란다를 “대나무화단”으로 변환시킴은 “흙”과 접촉하려는본능적 안간힘이며, 거실 천장의 “천막”은 그 위가 “하늘”일 것이라는착각의 “희망”임이다.
건축가는 기본적 삶의 틀만을 제안한다.

The open wall is built at the boundary of combined space and then arranged a home bar to the wall. On the other hand, the kitchen and the dining room separated by the wall. but I rather took down the wall for mutual convenience. Hereby. the spatial surrounding agreed with each function by the open wall between the public space of living room, dining room and kitchen.
To be created a various spatial and conversational stories are expected by a visual exchange through the 'open wall'. 'In convenience' may bring a 'variety and change' to the life. The structure of an apartment has a sense of instinctual inferiority with a difficulty to access to the sky and the ground. To convert the existing veranda into a 'bamboo garden' is an instinctual effort to touch with a 'ground' . And the canvas on the ceiling is a 'hope' that it may exist a 'sky' on the upper part. An architect designs a basic frame of life only.
