도심속에 위치하고 있으나, 녹지지역으로서 전원적 주변환경을 가진 이 대지는 경사지로써, 부정형인 형태를 취하고 있다. 대지이용효율의 극대화를 위해 이 불규칙한 대지형태는 결국 건축의 형태로 변환되었으며, 결과적으로 대지형태를 건축화한 셈이 되었다.
이곳은 주거와 작업의 행위가 동시에 이루어져야 하는 복합적 장소이며, 직주의 공간을 분리하면서도 양측 모두 정원과 공간적으로 소통할 수 있는 ‘경계’가 필요하였고, 이는 지하층과 지상층으로 분리됨으로서 해결되었으며 전면도로의 경사를 이용하여, 주거와 작업의 주출입구를 단면적으로, 레벨로써 분리할 수 있었다.
각층 실내공간의 수직적 이동성을 반층레벨의 스킵플로어적 체계로 연계되게 함으로써 수직이동의 심리적 부담을 해소하면서, 각 레벨의 공간이 수직적으로 강한 시각적, 공간적 연속성을 유지하게 함으로서 이야기가 있는 산책적인 동선을 유지하려했다.
이 상승하는 각층의 개방된 공간위에, 건축화된 자연으로서의 작은 대나무숲이 내장되어있는 여러개의 목재 침실 BOX들이 변화롭게 떠있는, 역동적이며 돌발적인 공간의 반전이 이루어지게 하려는 공간적 프로그램이 수록되어 있으며 이것은 이집의 내부공간의 대표적 인상이 되었다.
외부적으로는 건축의 옥상부를 모두 조경화함으로써 지하에서 지상, 각층 옥상레벨까지 크고 작은 서로 다른 공간성의 여러 마당이 연속적으로 만들어내는 드라마적 외부공간은 역동적인 내부공간 그리고 주변자연의 풍경과 복합적으로 연계되어 전개됨으로서, 풍요로운 공간적 이야기를 구성하고 있다.
곡선형태의 대지 후면의 건축화와, 내부공간의 유동적구성, 그리고 주변자연의 맥락과의 형태적 조화를 의도하여 이 건축의 조형적 어휘는 결국 유동하는 곡면으로 구성된, 마치 자연을 건축화한 비건축적 조형을 만들어냈다.
This site which is located in the Geumgang valley, Pyeongcahng, Gangwon-do is the ideal place where is separated with present society, in the nature and this old land is surrounded by streams of water flowing, and the sound of birdcall, all day long.
As a private institute, with a program called the institute of religious studies, this institute is consisted of main house in where the master of this institute live and guest house in where guest stay and korean style house for study.
It was nat easy to make the relationship of coexistence between the nature and architecture with layout of this small three masses in the broad nature.
As the laying on the axis which have the panoramic good view and effective orientation of main house and guest house, outer space in between the two buildings was to be "The architectural nature".
Korean-style study house which is located in stream side is laid near the nature and the influencing range of mutual communication of these three small architecture will be negative and they coexist each other and dominate the broad space of surrounding nature also.
This dynamic architecture made with metallic skin, will coexist with nature as a part of another nature of future, forever.
